Not too dark? This sheets of steel was overheated by exhauts.

As you said, Lis @lis, it is steel which gets real hot by the exhausts.
To my opinion this could mean that, depending on the hours the plane was used, the darkness would be differently on each plane. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree with @johnb, my friend @lis! Your shade is believable. Of course, if you don't like it, you can change it. For your reference, here is a pic of a P-51, taken from Afterburner aviation magazine:

I think the steel cover is dark enough. Also, steel looks darker under strong sunlight.

Thank You for your comments about it. I have to sleep with this until tomorrow. 🙂

@gblair @johnb @fiveten Finally I repainted this sheets of steel... I used Super Stainless 2 paint and made wery light mist of paint over this dark places. Also IFF Stripes was done (C329 US Navy Yellow). After small corrections of painting after taking of masking model is ready to first coat of clear.

    Looking awesome, my friend @lis!
Guess you could not live with the darker steel shade 🙂

@fiveten Yes my friend! All people who see my model will be asking me why this is too dark 😉 . I have found that I have no strength to respond to everyone 😉

    Well done, Lis @lis
It is difficult to stay with a color which you personally don't like.
You did good to change it to something which suites you better.
The yellow does look great as well.

Yep, sometimes we do not accept "good enough" as "good enough", my friend @lis!
So, as our friend @johnb said, you did great to change the color to a shade that suits you.

NMF looks great, @lis. The yellow leading edge and the glare panel look great with the metal.

    Thank you! @gblair @johnb @fiveten
Today I fit exhauts to the fuselage and I'm thinking about what Clear I will use today. X-35 semi gloss or X-22 gloss?

You are moving right along, @lis. I use gloss under the decals, and then either semi-gloss or flat to seal the decals.

    @gblair good idea

@lis, I go with @gblair for the gloss underneath prior to decals and finish the entire model with flat.
