Thank you @fiveten, @johnb, @gblair and @lis. I continue the journey with a small update.

    Decals commenced

Just a small take on the decals

The decals that came with the AM detail-kit were rather thin by the looks of it, so I tried them on the underside of the wing.

I added a lot of micro, and they were possible to move around. However they look like they are prone to fold, and easy to crack. I managed to break a small corner, and the film was extremely thin and easy to fold. A lot of microadjustments later it looked like they were OK, and after a bit of drying time I added a thin layer of micro sol, and they set nicely into every possible hole and panelline!

So, with extreme care I shall progress with the top decals. However I may need to readdress the red areas to make a better match between decals and paint?

Those decals do indeed look great, Erik @airbum
The film follows the surface nicely.
Seems like the B can be corrected with a bit of white.

Nice decaling, my friend @airbum! These are some fine, though sensitive, decals!

Decals went on perfectly, Erik (@airbum). It is hard to believe there is clear film there. It looks like the letters are individually applied. Applying decals is always stressful for me, because if they don't perform well or tear, bend, or fold, they could mess everything up at the very end of the build.

    Thanks @johnb, @fiveten and @gblair. a lot of careful decaling later. . . .

    More decals

    Majority of decals on.

It does look like the color is way off in these shots, but that is down to camerasettings in LED lights and with bright light from all the snow outside (yes – snow has arrived in Denmark)

With the majotity of the stencils in place I shall see if any more are needed to make it look right, but I am really tempted to call it finished and proceed with paint.

next up I hope to have it detailpainted, perhaps a layer of clear or two?

I think the clear will bring all of the colors together, Erik (@airbum). Can't wait to see everything done.

She looks really special like this, Erik @airbum
Even snow already, temperatures did drop here well below zero last weekend, but no snow yet.

    Details.

After 2½ months, the S-199 came out again.

Just some small touch-ups on the nose

and a few details picked out.

I think it is time for some clear, but the temperature is a bit low for that. Tune in and check later if it has been done 🙂

    Very nice progress, Erik @airbum
Those low temperatures do indeed slow down modeling in winter time.

@fiveten and @johnb, the temperatures were finally tolerable on this part of the globe.

    Clear coat.

Warm and dry, and time for some clear.

I airbrushed a few builds today, and the Avia was one of them.

It will need a few more but already the matt and gloss are getting closer to each other.

    The decals were ultrathin

and the result id very goor after just two layers of gloss clear.

I think it looks OK (ha ha – funny)

OK – BYE for now! (even more funny. . . . - right?)

next up it will stay in the box for a looong time, then another coat, yet another long stay, then wetsanding, drying and a final coat. Can’t wait. . . .

    Hood off. . .

After a few layers of semi matt/gloss, the hood can be removed

It was just there to ensure the cockpit did not get any seepage.

Not strange colors had entered, and the mask came off the windscreen.

Then I pulled myself together and started cutting the vac-formed hood.

Testfitting showed a very tight fit, but I think it is doable?

next up some rails for the hood and some color – or perhaps wheels first? Tune in and check later (hopefully before another 8 months has passed)
