Started this kit as a quick build for a BoM group build at Detail and Scale. As of now, this is as far as I have gotten, but will have the fuselage, wings, tail and wheel bay done in the next couple of days. Then it’ll be on to fixing seams…there are a few with this kit.

I like Tamiya’s kit so much better, but I have plans for the ones I have so this was expendable. Plus, with Eduard’s new release in the coming months, I’ll need to make room in the stash for those!

I’ll post more pictures once I’m satisfied in the progress.

    Thank for reading, y’all!

Cockpit looks great, Freddie (@fjs3). It is obvious from your photos that a little TLC can really bring out the best in a Hobby Boss model.

Yes, the kit part is a bit sloppy.

Got a bit done on the HB F4F-4.

Basically she's up to the fiddly bits being added. I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of these kits. With patience they will build up nicely, but I think the Tamiya kit is way better.

I did a couple things different this time. I used a custom mix of Tamiya Acrylics for both the light grey and the blue grey. Also I used a set of Three Guys Decals, "Wildcats at Midway(?)" and they were perfect going on. They reacted well with Wather's Solveset as well as Microsol and Microset. I used AK Interactive weathering pencils for the panel lines. Quickboost Exhaust stacks, an Ultracast seat, Miracle Line for the aerials, (Which are not attached yet, (Thanks Kyle Koppos for the tip)) and a set of resin wheels by Reskit, which are fantastic.

Here are the pics as she sits awaiting final assembly. Thanks for looking, y'all!

I agree with everyone else, Freddie (@fjs3). Your fit and finish on this plane is terrific. The paint and weathering is very cool. I also have the Eduard kit pre-ordered.

Nice work, Freddie. I built a HB -3 about 12 years ago and liked it.
