Richard, that interior work really looks good, nice dirtying on the floor, and the "boxes" and shelving also look the business.
    Gonna be a big 'un!

    Richard,
Your work is a joy to behold. The completion of this has to be a winner.

Oops, you slipped down a place, better get you back to number one spot, Richard! You seem to be getting a lot of good work done in such a small amount of time.

Cheers George! I've been trying to push on this week but I've got two more projects on the go as well as a new Playstation game!

I've put some more colour down on the back ramp going off some google images as reference. I still need to put some dirt wash down and attach the M240, but that's miles away yet! The M240 is actually still in its box.

The interior is pre shaded and ready to be painted, I might get round to that tonight but I need to respect the fact I'm half way through a 3l bottle of Frosty Jack! Might leave that one till tomorrow.

The interior looks cavernous! Excellent work all around.

Thanks Bryan, there's a lot of room to add detail with this kit. I had contemplated building a hummer to sit on the back ramp but went for infantry transportation in the end. I can put more visible detail in that way.

Going slightly off topic anyway, I'm building a Challenger 2 at the minute. I want to put the Challenger 1 that I built about a year ago in the final pics along side it, but couldn't help but feel I could improve on the weathering from my first attempt.

I scrubbed off the original pigments and had another shot, so here's a sneak preview. The lighting isn't great in the photo, I do the final armour photos outside in the light tent but I'm happier with the outcome. The Challenger 2 is built but is still completely bare plastic at present. I'm guessing it will be done after Xmas, can't promise a date though!

I've got some colour down on the interior using various Tamiya acrylics, still needs a spot of varnish though. The floor and the cockpit seems to fit in ok. That's it for now though, I'm away offshore in the morning, see you when I get back!

Ok one last post before I go to work.
I've made a start on the weaponry from live resin. The M240 is going to sit on the back ramp of the Chinook. The box picture shows the different parts and I've took a snap of the sub-assemblies so far. Very very fiddly! That's as far as I'm getting with it for now.

What a monster! You could take years on a build like this.

I'm very impressed by your painting/weathering.

Hi Don, apologies for the late reply, just got back home from working away. Cheers for the compliment! I'm no expert but I try my best! I'm finding with weathering that less is more if that makes any sense. I think it's easy to over do weathering and take the attention away from the original subject.

I hope it won't take years but it's certainly taking months! Plus I always have a few projects on the bench at any one time, I prefer doing that so I don't rush things and get frustrated with some of the more tedious parts of the build.

Ok, where was I with this one! I've been back at home a couple of weeks so have managed to make a bit of progress.

The miniguns came in a lot of small parts and required tweezers to put together, but got there in the end.

Before painting the weaponry I had to finish off the floors, walls and ceiling and get them glued down into one half of the shell, along with the cockpit.

I painted the guns with a base coat of aluminium, then alclad gun metal, then finished them with a matte varnish.

Some strategic blobs of super glue here and there and that's them secured down inside.

Next is the task of assembling the photo etch seating. I'm going to use some pieces of cocktail sticks for the seat legs, cheap and cheerful! I haven't got round to the seat belts yet, saving that one for a rainy day! Once the seats are done and attached that will be the interior finished I think.

Now most of the interior is done I can start working on the exterior. I've attached the big external fuel tanks and started assembling the rotors, I'll post a few more pics in the next couple of days. The size of the model is starting to become apparent now sat on my work bench! It is absolutely huge!
