Ok you guys teased me long enough so allow me to contribute this sort of mini GB dedicated to the Il-2 , a name that also brings me back a lot of fun hours spent at my PC back in the very early millennium. Anyone else here was also a fan of that PC game?

Well here are a few pics of what I have to assist the plastic

The kit was purchased back in 1998 and some parts have been cut from the sprue trees somewhere between then and now

I also amassed significant AM parts, including canopy masks; new prop and spinner from Vector, Eduard PE, QB Gun Barrels and Exhausts; new wheels; a Quinta Studio cockpit detail set and finally some paint masks since I fear the kits decals might not be usable.

This is the version I’ll build using the paint masks for all insignias (made by KVmodels). Look for some updates throughout the week

@holzhamer Pedro, I've spent hundreds of hours in the original Il-2 series sim 😀 In fact, I will be using the new Il-2 series as a reference on cockpit details and exterior weathering, since they are so faithfully reproduced in the simulator.

@inflames Sebastijan, the old Il-2 edition had some pretty nice cockpits but no doubt the new series is better. Wonder if you can send me some print screens on pm? Thanks!

@holzhamer Pedro, no problem. Which version will you be building?

    G'day Spiros (@fiveten), John (@johnb) and Pedro (@holzhamer),
I've put one of those "plates" back in the cupboard and this is now my club gunna build...

    ...the Tamiya 1/48 Il-2M3.

It will be out of the box, except maybe son seat belts, and as you can see I have some Authentic Decals.
Some of these are Il-2M two seaters with the straight wing and others are the Il-2M3 with the "arrow" wing.
The Tamiya kit is the latter type.
(Interestingly, the Zvezda two seater has the straight wing.)

I haven't decided on the scheme yet.

...oh, Pedro (@holzhamer), and I've spent decades playing various incarnations of the Il-2 PC game.
