Your plane looks great in the Headlines section, John (@johnb). It was a pleasure to be a part of the group build.

What a striking picture of your plane in overall black, Sebastijan (@inflames). It is good you are feeling better and can spend some time tackling this kit. I am surprised that the Tamiya kit had problems, but your corrections have certainly made the kit look perfect.

Thank you, George. The all black models certainly look striking! Yeah, it wasn't like it was short-run bad fit, but it wasn't LEGO snap either and required some TLC to sort it out.

Anyhow, let there be some paint.

The bottom was painted with AMT-7 Light Blue (@mr_paint_slovakia ) and shaded with lighter tones, making a combination of blackbasing and postshading so to speak.

    Great paintwork, Sebastijan @inflames
The riveting pops out much better with the paint on.

Bottom paint looks terrific, Sebastijan (@inflames). The mottling looks great, and any weathering you add later will really make the detail pop out.

Thanks guys! The photo doesn't do the subtle effect justice. Hope the top camo turns out as good as well and I guess the weathering will make it look even better.

As I always paint from lightest to darkest colour, the AMT-1 Light Brown was the obvious choice. Again mottling over the black base with added different brown and light sandy tones to achieve the faded used paint effect.

I really like the brown color that you used, Sebastijan (@inflames). What brand of paint did you use?

    Really nice paintwork, Sebastijan @inflames
The toning differences are very good.

AMT-4 Green added - starting to look like a real deal now!

@gblair George, I use exclusively Mr.Paint lacquers. Before that I was an enamel guy, mostly ModelMaster stuff, but when I discovered Mr.Paint lacquers, it improved my work tenfold.

    G'day all,

I've been on holiday the last 3 weeks (~6000 km drive from Melbourne to Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock) and Alice Springs and back) and am just catching up with all the progress.

    Excellent progress all around.

The weekend before my holiday my club had a build weekend and I was going to work on my Il-2. Unfortunately I packed everything I needed for the weekend except my tools and the one paint colour I needed - the cockpit grey. So, using borrowed tools from others I started another project.

This weekend, back at home, I managed to make some progress on the 1/48 Tamiya Il-2 as you can see in the following pictures:

Excellent progress and excellent looks so far, my friend @michaelt!
The Tamiya kit looks less fussy than the AM.

    Sebastijan (@inflames),
Your paint looks great. I bought a Vallejo 'Soviet Air Force VVS 194301945 "Great Patriotic War"' set of paints that I will be using. The interior is Vallejo A-14 Steel Grey that I had to buy separately (and forgot on the build weekend).
I hope these look as good as the Mr Paint colours you used.
This is my first time using Vallejo paints.

    John (@johnb),
You did a great job on your build, too.
That aircraft is one of the options for the Zvezda kit and I was considering building that one as well.
However, I've decided to build it in the summer camouflage instead.
I have started that kit as well, but have not yet painted anything.
I'll post pics when I have.
