I've been painting the base a bit over the weekend. I will be adding more colour variation in the next few days as well as adding some puddles and stuff. It may not be perfect, but it is a great way to practice new techniques for future projects.

    G'day Sebastijan (@inflames),
    That is great looking base.
It is hard to believe that you first painted it black and then achieved such a natural looking colour pallet.
    Well done.

That’s a pro work Sebastijan @inflames. Creating my own model “floor” will be my next challenge. Only time I made one, years ago, was a simple desert floor, with very little scenic appeal.

Ok, here’s what I made so far during the last 3-4 days around my AM Il-2

Still not completed, as a couple of parts are still to be added, is the cockpit main detail. Added were some parts of Quinta Studio, and a few PE parts. Most is really OOB

Side walls are the same approach

I decided to drop the elevators and cut the rudder so to pose it slight offset

Also worked around the wheel nacelles, scrapping part of plastic relief, replacing it with far more accurate PE details.
This green is my own mix from Tamiya paints. Tried to get as close as possible to a green primer seen in a original piece recovered from a salvage some years ago, but turned out a tad darker than I hoped. I can live with it 😉

More to come, thanks for any feedback

    Amazing progress, Pedro @holzhamer
Very nice addition to drop elevators and give the rudder a little offset.

Great work, Pedro (@holzhamer). The AM kit can be a challenge, but it looks like you have tamed it. Looks great.

Thanks guys! I am still working on it - will try to finish it by Thursday, as I travel to Norway for weekend, and hopefully make a final photoshoot next week or so.

Pedro that is a very nice progress!

    Pre-shading done...
I managed to knock the left gun barrel off for the second time, though.
I glued it back on after these photos.
    Third time lucky?

Looking superb so far, my friend @michaelt!
I never knock-off my gun barrels, as I always cut them off at the start, otherwise they are a continuous knocking-off sorry saga 🙂 🙂

    Painting.

I am using Vellajo for the first time on this kit.

The blue sprayed well but perhaps I overdid it a little as the pre-shading doesn't show through as much as I'd like.

The light brown sprayed well too but, again, a bit too thick.

The coverage of the green was very thin and i should have just left it at that and sprayed a second coat. So, in a couple of places it is now a bit too thick.

I don't particularly like the dropper type bottles either, but maybe that is something I'll get used to.

I still have the dark grey to go.

You can always post shade the areas you’re not satisfy Michael @michaelt
Personally Inlike Vallejo for brush paint, airbrush always found hard to get the right viscosity to spray well enough and not clogging the airbrush tip
