    Thanks my friend @johnb!
    Great start! Yes, the back plate needs to be painted cockpit color, save the two window glasses.

    Been absent from this site for a few days so I just stumbled upon this mini Shturmovik GB. Very impressive works so far and a good reference for anyone who has this plane kit on the stash! I’ll be following along your updates, even more since I have the single seater AM kit for decades in the box

    Great progress, Spiros (@fiveten) and John (@johnb). I need to get moving or I will be left in the dust. Wings look great.

    @holzhamer, thanks, Pedro. Great to have you onboard this topic.

    @gblair, thank you, George. You and your kit will not be left in the dust. Once done with the B17, you can go full steam ahead.

    Nice first round, Spiros @fiveten
    Always impressed by the large wing area this aircraft had.

    @inflames, thanks, Sebastijan

    Did a first paint on the interior, a silver greyish color.

    When comparing with some of restored Stormoviks, it does look like it has to be a bit more blueish.

    Although the side walls and intrumentation panel does look silver gray.

    Above pictures are from the same aircraft.

    I wouldn't take these restored aircraft as a definite reference - lots of them have wrong paint and use whatever's at hand during the restoration unfortunately. Reference photos show anything between that blueish grey and silver grey like you used. I guess this depends which factory built the given batch of Il-2s.

    Oh and I was lucky enough to actually see and photograph a real Il-2M a couple of years ago in Russia.

    Hard to imagine they actually restored it to flying condition from this:

    @inflames, it must have been amazing to see this aircraft in flying condition, Sebastijan. Especially if you know where it originated from. Those people did an amazing job.

    About the colors, I agree with you. Restored aircraft are not perfect references. Will do a bit more digging, but I think George @gblair was right about the silver grey color being listed in the regulations.

    Silver gray looks good, my friend @johnb!
    Thanks for the info, my friend @inflames!

    @johnb

    I did some online research about the interior colours of the IL-2 some time ago and ended up buying AK real colours A-14 Interior Steel Grey. It seems a fairly good match for that bluish grey that many references point to be the most commonly used in the Shturmovik. But as is the case in many other aircraft, I doubt all the cockpit was painted uniformly with this colour. Some fellow iModelers out there may have more serious info on this 😉
