    Thanks @holzhamer!
To add to the conversation, Zvezda recommends neutral gray to their new tool Stormoviks!

I have some photos of a restored plane in a museum (I think in the National Museum of the Air Force) that has steel gray on most of the cockpit, and a darker color on the floor and a green control stick. They supposedly used the same colors that they found when they were originally restoring the plane. I have seen other photos of restored planes with this green color being closer to the interior green used in WW2 US planes. I don't know. With these planes often being painted with whatever paint they had in the factory, you could probably make a case for painting the interior just about anything. I plan to use AK Real Colors A-14 Interior Steel Gray for the cockpit, perhaps along with their interior green. The plane I plan to build was a late war plane, so perhaps the paints used were closer to their tech order.

This is really interesting, my friend @gblair!
    Indeed, there's a choice here!

First round of "normal" puttying, some mismatch glitches under fixation, exhausts ready...

    Thanks for stopping by!

@gblair, thanks, George. Indeed some more choices.
Your pictures seem to come from the same aircraft as the picture I submitted.
Another interesting article about interior colors for the Il-2,

So the A14 seems very plausible.

You are really making good progress, Spiros @fiveten
Did you cut the elevators by the way. I noticed they are lowered at a previous stage already.

    Thanks my friend @johnb!
I assembled the elevators, then just brutally forced/bent them down by hand. The border/joint line was weak and easily succumbed. I did not bend them too much, so no annoying plastic separation will occur at the joint.

Cave man method, Spiros (@fiveten)? I myself have been known to apply some "helpful" pressure at times. Looks great.

Thanks for the additional info, John (@johnb). The article would seem to confirm the use of the A-14, but given the state of the Soviet paint supply during the war (especially early in the war), you could make a case for a lot of variation.

Upon slight forcing, the plastic seemed eager to give in at exactly the place I wanted to. Of course the experience is tad frightening, truth be told, until, in relief, a good result is achieved 🙂

@fiveten, might give it a try as well, Spiros. The same kit, although the molding from the Revell kit might be from different plastic.

@gblair, agree with that, George. I think I will go for the steel grey to be on the safe side.

Go on and give it a try, my friend @johnb! If your sprues are made in Korea (and, I believe they are, by Academy these days), like the original AM, chances are that both plastics share similar qualities.

I think I will probably leave them streamlined, Spiros (@fiveten) and John (@johnb). Throughout my life, I have always been someone who can watch 100 other people do something and get away with it, but it is a massive fail when I do it. On the other hand, what's the worst that can happen? :o)

Made a start by slowly putting the interior parts together.
This is the progress so far.

Seatbelts are provided as decals so they look very flat, 2D.
To make them look a bit thicker I put the decals on a piece of masking tape.
Next I will try to cut them out as nicely as possible.
