Shopping for a model on the internet is nice, great selection if you don't mind waiting for shipping. But supporting your local hobby shop is good and has it's own rewards...
Today I was there and didn't really see anything that caught my fancy, until I glanced down on the bottom shelf...whats that? A Monogram !/48 Scale Heinkel HE-111? Thats my scale..all the HE-111's I've seen are 1/32 and a lot more costly than this...Well the box is worn, tattered and has been opened, no cellophane wrapper. So I open it up to see if all parts are there, yes, still in clear plastic bags, plus the instructions and decals, but wait! there's more! Its got not one but two, count 'em two add-ons, a Verlinden 'update kit' with PE and resin parts and Aires 'HE-111 Cockpit Set' with PE and resin parts and a price tag from a hobby store I never heard of. All this for a price around what a 1/48 Tamiya P-51 kit with no accessories costs...The store guy said "the box is beat up but everythings there, and then some" I said "I'll take it!"
Its a 1994 kit, seems maybe it might be molded better that the old 60's kits I still find from Revell.
It is not a 'work in progress' yet but will be as soon as I finish this tank which seems to be taking forever, but that will be soon, then on to this find...
