I had some images so I figured I would do a couple of posts following the frenzied attempt to finish a resin limited run biplane kit for the IPMS National contest. Why didn't I choose a Tamiya? Why did I wait to the last minute? Why did I finish the Mad Max car first? These are the things I do.

At any rate, if not for deadlines, I might never finish a kit. Works for me. I now figure I have 12 days left, 2 weekends are in there. I will need the Tuesday before we leave to pack up all the other c**p I'm hauling down to Virginia. Actually this project was started a while ago, picked up on and off. I put some added structure and detail into the cockpit, used Radu Briznan paper seatbelts. These have brass grommets for the sutton Harness, individual tiny bits. These worked out nicely, and look realistic. I wired the engine, still have some cowling brace work to do. Got all the Camouflage colors on it this week, and made masks for the fuselage code letters. This is going to be an aircraft from the Carrier HMS "Eagle's" "fighter flight", not provided for in the kit, so some juggling was necessary, including spraying the fin flashes, as they are a different type than the Kit's. All paints are Model Master enamels, using equivalent Fleet Air Arm colors. Did pre-shading in black, and some post-shading in lightened colors, am very happy with the look, I hope it can survive all the handling to come. Just spent all evening putting the decals on it, with better results than I was dreading (I hate decals). So here is where it stands right now...Gotta hit the hay now but as soon as I get home from work tomorrow, back to the fin flashes. This weekend, will tackle the (more dread) rigging. Time will tell.

Nothing like putting yourself against the wall. Have fun with the rigging & enjoy the Nationals. Do you think you will go to Columbus, Ohio next year?

Very sharp Bill. I really like your work, it's looking great. Looking forward to more pictures.
I have a friend that bought a model at the IPMS Nats on Wednesday, built it in his hotel room, entered it in the contest on Friday afternoon. With 12 days, you've got loads of time.
Keep on rocking, you'll make it.

A member of our Norwich club is visiting family in Virginia, and recently realised the Nationals were on, about twenty minutes from where they're staying. Should be a good trip for him!
