Well as I promised last month I start to build Thunderjet which is iModeler present . I wish to built a model with PE detail set for a long time and Thunderjet is my choice. I bought BigEd PE set from E-bay seller at reasonable price. Except RBF set most of the parts will be used but I decided not to use some which is unneccessery because kit details more reasonable. Also I ordered Wheel and Tire set from Fisher Model. Kit wheels seems belongs to HO scale Matchbox tractor...

It is hard to combine PE parts deciding process levels. Some need paint some not. I began with cockpit area. Here are first steps ...

I built the E model last year and the kit is a nice build. I used a Master Detail Korean
War pilot ( avatar photo) aluminum foil and no landing gear.
Just watch out in the cockpit as the gunsight needs HELP and there are no ejection
    seat rails.

    Watching with interest

Ejection seat is ready to prime. Main body part from kit but rest PE details and some wiring after painting. Kit not contains seat rails as Jack mentioned.

Jet "pipe" is a headache ... Seams and ejector marks very difficult to trim properly. Solution came from daughter's toy drawer. Toy lipstick is in same diameter . A little cut and fit operation necessary but result is ok 🙂

New covers and speed brake. Kit contains old type brake but I need new type. PE set solved it.

This cokcpit look just fabulous! And - clever technique with the gun ports.

Out of curiosity, what colour did you use for the dark wash in the wheel wells? Looks very convincing with Zinc Chromate. /m

The airbrake is a HUGE improvement over anything that can be cast or molded! It would probably sell as a lone accessory!

Zinc Chromate is Tamiya XF-4 and wash with Winsor & Newton "burnt umber" oil. 🙂
