    Very nicely applied, George @gblair
To me the dark earth and dark green do look right.
Should be a great result once the masking tape is removed.

Thanks, Spiros (@fiveten) and John (@johnb). So far, so good. Tape is removed and everything looked OK. Some small paint ridges which I sanded lightly with some 1000 grit sandpaper. Worked great.

Thanks, John (@johnb) and Spiros (@fiveten). Tomorrow will be clear gloss, followed by 24 hours to dry. Then decals. While everything is drying I will be working on my train layout. :o)

Well done George @gblair, that’s a fine model of a beautiful little aeroplane. Yellow is a devillish colour to apply and get right but you’ve mastered it!

I got the clear gloss sprayed on last night during half-time of the football game. So this morning I started on the decals. The LF decals that I got for this kit come with a warning that they are made with a continuous film. I was concerned about having the clear film visible on the model, so I used the kit decals for most of the markings. The decals that came with the kit are really nice and have no extra clear film. The kit decals went on easily with a little MicroSol/MicroSet. From the LF set I used the registration numbers, as well as the "36" on the nose. The LF set has the large registration numbers beneath the wing provided as either decals or a paint mask. If the LF decals look good after they dry, then I may consider using the decals, but I am ready to use the masks if I need to. The only problem, so far, with the LF decals was that the "36" on the nose was a little translucent. After the decals dry I will make a decision on the underwing registration. More later. Cheers.

Everything looks perfect from here, including the white 36s, so I just take your word regarding the translucency, my friend @gblair.
    What a gorgeous model!

Thanks, Spiros (@fiveten). Thanks for the kind words. It has been fairly painless, so far.

Decals do look great, George @gblair
From the pictures the "36" does look ok, wondering if the translucency reduces once all has dried.

I wanted to try the masks that came with the decals for the underwing registration numbers. They were also furnished as decals, but I was really worried about the amount of carrier film that would need to work perfectly for the decals to look right. I applied the masks, and then taped around them to prevent overspray. I used Tamiya Black and reduced the psi on my airbrush to around 15. Just before I sprayed, I used a Q-Tip to burnish down the edges of the mask. What resulted was a catastrophe. Paint leaked under the mask in dozens of places. I tried using some Windex to clean up the errant paint, but there was no way to do it cleanly without messing up the fresh paint. In the end, I used Windex to remove all of the black that I could and then repainted the yellow on the lower wings. This little excursion into the world of leaky paint masks delayed the completion of the build for a couple of days.

Today I added the windscreens and the last of the bits that I had left off until the end. I used chalk pastels to add just a little weathering. I got everything set up for photos and took the final photos for Headlines. As I was going through the photos to pick which ones to use, I noticed I had forgotten to paint the main wheel tires black. I guess I wasn't as done as I thought I was. I will get them painted and this build will be done. Thanks for following along.

Those masks gave you a hard time, my friend @gblair. All good now.
I also usually forget little things that, of course, show up after taking "final" pics meaning another round 🙂
Your Magister looks wonderful! Looking forward to see it at the headlines!
