Just finished painting the black on the wings and fuselage last night. I kept trying to cut masks to apply to the model but ended up making stencils off of the instructions. They're full size so it was pretty easy, I just had to cheat the curve between the side and top views on the fuselage as 2D doesn't translate to 3D very well! I masked the entire plane, lined up my stencils, drew my scallops and trimmed the tape with a new X-acto blade. My fingers got tingly so I gave up on the wheel pants till this weekend. I have to tidy up the cowl as there were some sanding scratches that showed through so I'll be spraying black anyway!

The next trial of patience will be the red trim that separates the black and yellow. I thought about hand painting it, but I may scan the instructions into my computer and color in the trim line on the four view and print it as a decal! We'll see...

I would also like to find some fine wire that is chrome in color for the flying wires. (I don't know about the Z, but on the R they're actually flat for most of their length.)

Thanks. I did the pin striping last night and touched up the uneven areas with either yellow or black. I ended up getting them pretty straight for doing it free hand! The decals in the kit are great, although I should have applied all the numerals on the N number on the wings individually.

I found some .015 music wire for the rigging. It's not as bright and shiny as I would like it, but it'll work. Tomorrow I'm going to try and tackle the black on the wheel pants. I should have it on the site by Sunday!
