Whilst I was working on the MiG 21R, I was also distracting m'self with this. Not a straightforward project, some harsh language, surgery, plastic-card and putty was required on the joint between the top of the fuselage and the underside of the LERX's.

Mr Color lacquers for the camo, Tamiya acrylics mixed for the fin. All the staining and PLW is with W&N Oils. Two coats of Tamiya LP-09 lacquer clear to seal it.

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend all. best from NZ.

Great progress on this one, Ian. We don’t see these built often.

(Superscale) decals on, no problems at all. Next I'll seal them with a light (glossy) coat then tone them down with a light oil filter. In the meantime, I can add the etch to the seat & IP, mask and paint the canopies etc.

Hopefully more progress pics before the weekend.

Looking great, Ian! Awesome selection on the decals, and glad they didn't give trouble.

I've had this kit in the stash for mumblemumble - a long time. I'll be watching this in hopes of inspiration catching fire.

    Looking good so far.

Self explanatory pics, used the kit-specific full Eduard set - I actually ordered the smaller 'Zoom' set, but somehow ended up with the bigger one. Really like the HUD mount and lenses.

    More after the weekend.

Hey Tom... if you do bring this one to the bench, you'll be needing a shed-load of 'modelling skills' and harsh language to get the top of the fuselage and the LERX roots to meet. I ended-up hacking a considerable amount of plastic from the impellor firewall and the top of the fuselage moldings. Also attaching the LERX section to the (one piece) upper wing was great to minimise the filling & sanding.

    Ian.

You did really great on that canopy.

Great work, Ian @ij001. I have always thought that Harriers were kits that had a lot of complicated parts packed into a small area, just like the real thing. You have obviously mastered the complexity of this kit. Well done.
