Time to build another helo, this time the older Hasegawa Mi-24 Hind. It will wear Iraqi colors as it appeared in 1991 during Desert Storm. At the time of it's release it was a good kit that was part of the Hasegawa "K" series. However the interior is not accurate. Follow on releases have since surpassed the Hase kit, such as the Italeri and Zvesda kit. I used the Kellenic interior set to enhance the poor Hasegawa interior. What is a bit plus is the molded in droop of the rotor blades that is a nice touch.

So lets see what is in the box. Popping the lid reveals the instruction sheet on top and a filler box in red. The kit is moulded in a light tan plastic in bags.

The instruction sheet is typical Hasegawa fold out sheet.

A parts map, color call outs based on Gunze paint codes and step 1 starts in the cockpit.

The decal sheet is for one Russian Hind. In the Dk Green/Tan over Light blue scheme.

Now on to the plastic. Moulded in tan, sprue A have the fuselage halves in LH/RH 1 pc. The notable issue on the Hase Hind is that the fuselage is too short in scale. Similar to the Monogram 1/48th Hind, the main rotor is too close to the tail rotor. There is no interior detail in the cockpit, the Kelenic detail set will fix that. Another known issue is the cockpit is totally fictional.

As my typical routine the interior components are pre-painted on the sprue. Russian Interior Blue/Green is painted in the flight deck and pilots station. Lt Grey for the troop compartment, gear bay wells, inside the doors and landing gear struts.

This is really a golden oldie, Chuck .(@uscusn). I have this kit in the stash, but didn't realize the interior was that poor. Looking forward to seeing you work your magic on this Cold War vet.

Good morning George, yes I was surprised when reading up on several reviews and builds of the Hase Mi-24 Hind. So to help make it a bit more accurate I used a Kelik interior set that is for the Zevesda Hind, which is more accurate in size. The Hase Hind shares the same flaw as the Monogram Hind, the tail is too short as well.
Thanks John and Spiros, now to start building.

Finally getting around in catching up on this build after a bit of a hiatus. Starting with the cockpit.

The flight deck is 1 piece which includes the rear crew compartment.

Then nose gear bay is attached under the flight deck section of the floor.

The base interior is very sparse as step 3 starts work on the flight compartment.

The rear wall is plain so the Kelik decals work to enhance this basic piece.

The flight crew compartments are also bare and will get help with the Kelik pieces.

Next to build the rear compartment, roof and rear bulkhead/wall.

The pieces are then attached to the floor section, the parts go on well as typical Hasegawa.

The RH side fuselage flight section is in Russian Interior Grey/Green.

    More to follow.

Thanks John, Hase really messed up on the interior on this kit, when at the time they were the standard in 72nd scale when this series of Hinds were released back in the 70's.
    Thanks Spiros, as always.

Next is to start on the fuselage halves and details within the interior.

Really unusual how basic and wrong the cockpit is from a company at the time was fairly decent even in this scale. But then accurate info for Russian aircraft were not so available at the time these series of Hinds were produced. Though the 48th scale Monogram kit was fairly more accurate in appearance when that kit was produced around the same time.

1st to install the crew compartment windows on each half.

Next to apply the interior decal to the IP 1st to prepare the panel to apply the decal.

This is how the cockpit should look on a Hind

Next the LH interior side panels for the front and rear flight compartments. These panels are designed for the Zevesda Hind. They work well in the Hase kit so far.

The control columns are painted and installed.

A test fit of the fuselage halves to check alignment and that none of the Kelik decals interfere with the fitment. Installing the LH/RH front console panels also.

    Next to complete the interior,
