Time to build another helo, this time the older Hasegawa Mi-24 Hind. It will wear Iraqi colors as it appeared in 1991 during Desert Storm. At the time of it's release it was a good kit that was part of the Hasegawa "K" series. However the interior is not accurate. Follow on releases have since surpassed the Hase kit, such as the Italeri and Zvesda kit. I used the Kellenic interior set to enhance the poor Hasegawa interior. What is a bit plus is the molded in droop of the rotor blades that is a nice touch.
So lets see what is in the box. Popping the lid reveals the instruction sheet on top and a filler box in red. The kit is moulded in a light tan plastic in bags.
The instruction sheet is typical Hasegawa fold out sheet.
A parts map, color call outs based on Gunze paint codes and step 1 starts in the cockpit.
The decal sheet is for one Russian Hind. In the Dk Green/Tan over Light blue scheme.
Now on to the plastic. Moulded in tan, sprue A have the fuselage halves in LH/RH 1 pc. The notable issue on the Hase Hind is that the fuselage is too short in scale. Similar to the Monogram 1/48th Hind, the main rotor is too close to the tail rotor. There is no interior detail in the cockpit, the Kelenic detail set will fix that. Another known issue is the cockpit is totally fictional.
