Hi Tom. It is an awesome book that gives good insight into the dangers of flying into the Route Packs up North. Unbelievable how Macnamara at one stage could brief the press in the US about pending strikes against key targets a day prior to the missions being flown thus giving the North ample time to prepare for the Thud strikes. I am eagerly anticipating your book on the air war in Vietnam! It will definitely be on my wishlist for 2021!

Looking good, Tom. I’ve thought for some time that the F-105 would be a good candidate for Tamiya to tackle.

@j-healy - It would definitely be better than the HB kit. I think the old Monogram kit is better for details like landing gear and cockpit, though this is better for surface detail.

So, it's close to finished. Here are some shots of the cockpit. I used the kit cockpit, corrected (it doesn't even reach to the sides) and a resin seat. The seat really improved things. If you're thinking of doing this kit and you're a serious F-105 fan, I'd suggest getting a resin cockpit. Black Box made one, but they may only be available on eBay now that Squadron is gone.

The nose art is definitely NSFW.

Great job on the HB F-105D. I built this kit a couple years back, and I found it to be excellent, in most respects. The only issue I have is with the wobbly landing gear. If it's not too late, might I suggest replacing the HB gear with aftermarket metal gear? Otherwise, the HB Thud is a great kit.
Thanks (as always) for showing us the way, Tom.

Quinta also has 3D decals for the F-105G cockpit which appear to fit all the way to the bulkhead.

I'm interested in those, but I want to see someone else do a great cockpit of something using them before I spring for those prices.
