    Peil

and with this one, 10 “Emil’s” has left the kindergarten!

I know – I do not have the time to finish 10 Emil’s on top of all the other unfinished builds. But lets just say it is the journey that matters, not getting there. And after all, who would risk running out of things to do?

Well, it has been in line for quite a few years, and I figure with a lot of Tamiya 109E’s being converted, this one might just as well join the assembly line.

Never mind the box-top, it is actually the only E-4 out of the 10 E's from the kindergarten – the others all being E-3 kits.

As can be seen, it is a pre-brexit conversion from Hannants.

I started by removing some of the plastic to make way for some AM PE details. Oh, and just to show off, I recently bought a small chisel. Great tool for this!

Whenever the first update will come is anyones guess. You just have to tune in (or leave a comment to get mentioned in the update to get a headsup by email from iModeler)

An impressive amount of Emils, Erik @airbum
I can imagine it is difficult to give them all the required attention with lack of time.
    Nice progress on number 10.

This one will also be fun to watch, Erik (@airbum). I haven't even heard of most of the 109s you build, so it is always an education.

I've had one of those Peil Gerät conversions for years, Erik, but have never got to it. I'll be glad to cheer on your efforts, as your results are always astounding. Also, congrats on finding a new tool! This build is already bookmarked.

Thank you for the grand reception of this build gentlemen. @johnb, time is what makes the builds tick. @gblair, 109’s are a never ending education I guess – Just as you think you’ve seen them all, a new version or conversion pops up. @brummbaer, looking forward to share! @fiveten, so do I 🙂

    Wings and cockpit

    PE details and wing assembly

Some progress made on the interior a few weeks ago

but stalled as my supply of cyano had dried up – I have since then got a new supply, and progress can continue on the many PE parts in my 109 lineup.

With the fuselage soon ready for assembly, I assembled the wing.

The usual glitch with the edges of the wheelwells not reaching the upper skins were remedied by clamping this time. When dry I shall see if the upper skin has suffered from this.

next up I suppose the wing has been mated to the fuselage?

    Nice progress, Erik @airbum
Those clamps look sufficiently strong, fingers crossed when you remove those.

    G’day Erik (@airbum),
I have the Hasegawa boxing of this aircraft in the stash. https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/7/8/5/145785-10252-pristine.jpg
I’ll be interested in how your build progresses.

Coming along nicely, Erik (@airbum). It is always a milestone to get the wings and fuselage mated together. Finally getting your superglue will really help move your herd along.

@brummbaer, getting closer to adding the gerät, @johnb and @fiveten, they helped a lot, @gblair indeed!

    Major parts assembly

Fuselage and wings assembled and mated

With the wings assembled it was time for the fuselage to be glued up.

Plenty of tape to ensure it is nice and tight.

The fuselage was then presented to the wing – with a piece of tape ensuring the angle was correct as the glue set.

And the cowl dryfitted to show off the opening made by thinning parts.

    Tailfeathers and legs next?

Coming together nicely, my friend @airbum! As always your tape securing technique is excellent!

    G’day Erik (@airbum),
    Looking good so far.
I’ve taped wings like that before and sometimes the wing tips are so sharp they tear the tape.

Looking good, Erik (@airbum). I always have trouble using tape to fix the dihedral in the wings, but you obviously know the secret. Vents look good.
