    Black!

    - and clear

With the compressor started up, the propeller got a few layers of paint and the fuselage a mist of Tamiya matt clear acrylic

Now, if you check my latest pictures, the sharpeyed follower will have noticed that there were three blades clamped, and one loose. Well, guess what – I forgot all about the fourth blade! And I even gave the others a base of RLM Blackgreen, as it is my experience that in full sun the rubber parts have a greenish sheen to them. So out with the airbrush and one drop of each to be sprayed!

two steps. . . . . – please feel free to comment – even hurt my pride if you must! 🙂

    (George (@gblair), to quote you;

Of course, there were a lot of foreign postwar users, especially Sweden and various South and Central American countries. Lots of cool paint schemes.
    How about one of these?)

My friend @airbum: I LOVE swiss markings, so my vote is a strong YES!
    Great progress so far.

I concur, Swiss markings are cool, and there are a number of different schemes available for the Swiss P-51s. I am always amazed at the things I have discovered that I have missed as I am adding pictures to a post. Once discovered I had left the gear doors off a "finished" model as I was posting the photos. Oops.

Thank you my friends. I do not think I will get the time to do a Swiss Pony any time soon, and the idea is hereby passed on 🙂

I managed to paint the last blade, and glue the propeller together, but without pictures this time. I'll get back to that when more progress is made later on @fiveten and @gblair (back at work for a few days)

    Off to the paintshop

Just a short update this time as I’m off to the booth

    Prop ready for mask

And some parts prepared for different colors

OK – rather short update, but a bit of progress nonetheless

I would call it a tidying and "neating" progress, my friend @airbum!
    And a very nice one!

    More paint

    Tidying and neating

Spiros, (@fiveten), tidying it is then – a bit more paint while I was on a roll today, painting, cleaning the airbrush, mixing paint, painting, cleaning the airbrush, repeat, repeat. . .

And a lot of small parts got closer to the finishline

I even tried a new brand today – AK generation 3. It was labelled “Dark Aluminium”, and the rims were sprayed with that. I have to practice a lot with this – for all I know it looks more like white with a hint of aluminium?

Now it all has to dry properly, and then some matt / flat clear to finish this one – and get the eduard P51 back online. . . .

It is really interesting to compare how a paint looks after application, with the description the manufactures gives, my friend @airbum : par exemple, Humbrol 145 is advertised as Medium Grey, whereas it looks like medium blue grey...and so on.
"Seeing is believing" is my goto procedure.
Your painted parts look really good!
    You

I agree, Erik (@airbum), paint looks good. I have some Generation 3, but haven't tried it yet. What did you dilute it with for airbrushing? I think the rims will look good with a little Tamiya Panel Wash in black or dark gray...give it a little contrast.

Spiros (@fiveten), thank you. I have learned from our friend Klavs to paint a sample of eack paint I use, giving a reference to how it looks dry. Sadly I did not this time.

George (@gblair), thanks. I used ordinary demoralised - sorry, demineralised water - works fine! Could almost make me buy some more of the stuff 🙂

I shall give the panelwash a thought!

Thursday is our day to go out, so I picked up a couple of colors of AK G3 at my local hobby shop. I plan to use them on the Beaufighter. I am always looking for a better mousetrap.

    Small parts

Some of the smaller parts were installed the other day

And with those in place, it is one step closer to the finishline.

Still a bit to do with detailpainting, but the assembly is done.

The canopy is very distorted on this kit, but you can see the decal-seatbelts clearly! Bugger.

The next one will not be a ICM/Revell, so hopefully some better belts – or perhaps AM products will be needed.

next up this one may be in the headlines, but not in the very near future, and next post in this topic will be to bring the Eduard kit up to speed
