    Reposting in proper place…

Well after several years of hiatus (actually more like quitting) I decided to have a crack at making a model of the first F-14 I saw in 1987. Certainly like most other 14 year olds Top Gun set off a fascination with the Tomcat and military aviation in general. This will be (if I actually complete it) a gear up VF-142 jet. Having a couple Tamiya in the stash will allow me the detail upgrades to hopefully give it some extra pop. I swore I was going OOB but old habits are hard to break. Anyway the fit to me isn’t overly bad (so far) but here are some in progress pics. I am scribing, filling and riveting to try and enhance details. Hopefully it doesn't end up backfiring.

Never used acrylics so I decided to play around with TF30 cans and I have to say I am pretty happy with the result thus far.

Looking forward to your progress, Tim (@otis1229). This will be a monster when it is done, so probably a good plan not to put this one on the shelf. Acrylics have a learning curve, but work well once you are comfortable with them.

Very nice shadowing with the paint, Tim (@otis1229). It should work well to break up that mass of plastic.

Very thinned clear blue and drop of yellow seems to capture right hue of center windscreen. Tamiya TF30 cans causing a reengineering of horizontal stab attachment. Homemade ACMI pod if i want to hang something on her pylons (which need help)

The clear blue looks really good, Tim @otis1229
How did you apply the very thinned paint, simply by brush?

Actually airbrushed at 10-15 psi. Probably 10 passes or so
