    Very smooth, George @gblair
The white paintwork does look great.

Looks like you have an adventurous finish, my friend @gblair! All sounds to be ok now. Looking forward to see the bird done!

Thanks, John (j-healy), John (@johnb), and Spiros (@fiveten).

I finally finished today, but not without more drama. The canopy was not very clear, and had distortions, so I coated the canopy with Looks Like Glass. This really made a big improvement. When everything was dry, I masked the canopy and painted the white, then clear gloss, then decals, then clear semi-gloss. After everything was dry I removed the tape that was masking the canopy. Apparently Looks Like Glass isn't as hardy as Future, because the "Glass" was totally destroyed by the tape. The surface was very rough and it was impossible to see anything inside the cockpit. I tried to remove the "Glass" using alcohol, which smoothed the canopy but did little for the clarity. I suppose I could have sanded the canopy to remove the "Glass", and then restored the the clarity using fine sandpaper, but I had quite enough of this model by now. I brushed on some more "Glass" which did a lot to improve the clarity of the canopy. Not perfect, but OK. I glued all the antennas, gear doors, and other small bits on the plane and called it done. Not a great model, but I have never dumped a kit in the garbage (this kit tempted me several times), so my record is safe. Now, on to something bigger.

Pity about the canopy, but it looks good from here, my friend @gblair! The build was not without challenges, but you did a great job and the final result looks really cool!
    Well done!

Thanks, Spiros (@fiveten). In radio control airplanes they talk about "stand-off" scale models, or those that look the best when you stand off a long way when you look at them. This is a stand-off plastic scale model.

A pity the canopy was fighting you that hard, George @gblair
Although I do agree with Spiros @fiveten, that from the pictures it does look very good.
Despite the struggles, the result is really nice.

Thanks, John (@johnb). Making a replacement vacuform canopy would probably be the solution, but I never learned how to make a vacuform canopy. I should probably figure it out someday.

@gblair, that might be your next project once you mastered the 3D printing 😉
