@hptiggelaar, thank you, Harm. It is definitely a kit which you would have loved to build. You might visit the SMC in Veldhoven next weekend and see if you can grab another one.
@clipper, thank you, Carl. Just a minor modification to improve the fitting.

John, the Mossie is one of the classics and your doing it proud. The painting really adds to the over all appeal to this kit. The back story is tragic and real hero's suffer the consequence's of war time flying. No Marvel comics needed in AI to believe in real hero's.

@stephen-w-towle, thanks a lot, Stephen. After visiting the crash site and their graves, I decided to honer them with this build. Indeed, those brave men cannot be compared to Marvel hero's.

Prepared the camouflage pattern with patafix worms and masking tape.

Below the results after applying Vallejo Model Air 71.324 (BS dark green).

In the mean time I also printed my first ever decals. I tried two different colors of red, the upper slightly darker than the lower one. Personally I think the darker are closer to what should be.

Being able to print decals and eventually to be able to cut your own masks are great steps forward John (@johnb). Did you do this printing with a laser or inkjet printer. I had trouble getting a decent red when I tried this on my Fury.

Camo looks great, John (@johnb). Your darker decals are the ones I would choose. Also, same question as Carl (@clipper): How did you print your decals? My colored decals never come out that good. :o)

Excellent job so far and really great printed decals, my friend @johnb! I also believe the darker red is correct.

@clipper, at first I was not even aware that this was possible, but it seems that during my long absence in modelling everyrthing has evolved a lot. I printed those decals using a laser printer.

@gblair, thank you, George. Decals are printed on a laserprinter, first I searched for the correct font and simply test printed with various font sizes till I found the correct dimensions. I gave it a try with some letters printed in grey and tried those on a black surface. This didn't work, the decals were way too transparent, so I do hope that this will not be the case with the red ones.

@fiveten, thanks a lot, Spiros. The darker it will be.

John (@johnb), if you find that the red is too transparent, what you can do is use a regular printed copy of the decal on paper as a template to cut out the letters from white decal paper, then apply the white letters first. After they dry, apply the red letters. Make the white ones just a very small amount smaller (a sliver only)to prevent the white from showing as an outline.

Alternatively, you could print on white decal paper and cut out the areas within the letters so that there is no white showing on the model. As always, test first.

@clipper, thanks for sharing this approach, Carl. I will try and figure out what will work best.

John, just went throught the log, and all is looking great. Another option is to cut masks for the letters and paint them. However I do think the darker version might actually work. Looking forward to the result.

@airbum, thanks a lot, Erik. I wish I would have a cutter to perform this letter cutting. Will try the decals first.

Started with applying the kit provided decals applied as well as the first set of letters which I printed myself. The result is better than I expected. The transparency is more than the kit decals but is acceptable. The red color looks pretty much like what it should be.
