I ran into a major snag today that I hadn't anticipated but should have been aware of. Model Master IJN dark green is a gloss color out of the bottle, which in itself is not a problem. What I hadn't anticipated was how drastically the color changed when I shot the flat coat. Since I painted the canopy separately from the airplane, I now had a nice dull and weathered airplane and canopy frames that looked candy apple green! Made touchups really difficult as well. I carefully dulled the canopy frames with a dark acrylic wash, which helped blend it into the rest of the paint. I'm not completely happy with it, but it will do. I'll definitely mask the next one.
I'm calling this one done. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.
