    Hi Spiros @fiveten, @johnb, @garybrantley, Eric @eb801, @bikequeen.

The postman called today with the first of my birthday gifts (actually my birthday isn’t until 8th June) the Aoshima 1/24 kit of the Aventador Roadster, definitely not a car for shrinking violets:

This is how the bodywork looks when it comes out of the box:

Most of the bracing can be removed now, but the part over the windscreen should be kept on until later.

That’s it for now, lots more to come, happy modelling.

    Thanks for looking, Spiros@fiveten.

So, on with preparing the bodywork. With most of the bracing removed

it’s time to prepare the body, doors, and rear wing ready for painting. I enlarged the panel lines by scraping them with a filed down screwdriver, this is done to try and preserve them after many coats of primer, colour, and clear paints. Then a thorough sanding using my new Tamiya sanding sponges:

I used some of the local brew, this one’s 52%, as a final wash.

It’s mask on and off to the paint shop.

An initial coat of Tamiya White Primer.

I must leave it for 24 hours before readying it for the top coat. Any guesses as to what that may be? Bye for now and happy modelling.

    Excellent progress, my friend @chinesegeorge!
This local brew looks nice 🙂
Hard to guess the top coat: yellow, blue and even that lovely lime-ish green swivel in my mind...

    Great progress, George @chinesegeorge
You are already allowed to work on it prior to your birthday 😉

Thanks Spiros @fiveten and @johnb. The primer seems to have gone on OK, so after a gentle sanding I masked off the parts that will be painted black,

mask on, and off to the paint shop for the first coat of colour - Pearl White

Now another 24 hour wait before some sanding and a second coat.

    Happy modelling.

Looks like a very nice set, George @chinesegeorge
I'm surprised about the shapes of those discs.

Thanks again @johnb and Spiros. A little deburring and a small amount of black panel liner and they’re on. The front ones,

    and the back ones.

I think the small calipers are for the parking brake.
Onto the engine next, thanks again for looking, and happy modelling.

They do look nice, George @chinesegeorge
Now that I see them finished, I do understand the shape I wondered before.

Thanks, as always, Spiros @fiveten and @johnb. Right, onto the engine. Not too many parts, I’ve painted the main block and transmission Matt aluminum, and the exhaust, what you can see if it that is, silver. Here it is in the engine bay.

I carefully picked out the bolt heads in silver, but they will be mostly hidden when the inlet manifold, currently awaiting its Lamborghini markings, is fitted.

That’s it for now from a rainy north east China, happy modelling.
