Not sure what in hell I was thinking, but I'm moving ahead on the old Monogram 1/48 F-14A. I'm standing on the shoulders of giants for this project - David Aungst and Darren Roberts.
Revised the kit instruction plan for doing the nose well. Cut out the foot step recesses and backed them with plastic sheet.
Followed Roberts' advice and cut away the inner forward intake walls before installing the main intake ducts to improve fit.
Opened up the wing glove nav light areas and thrust hot pieces of clear sprue into them to make light covers.
Cut away the wing sweep gears and opened up the pivot pin sockets so I can install the wings later in construction.
And ... I had a set of F-14 drop tanks from the deluxe Revellogram F-14D boxing, but they were too pointy. Used them as a guide to turn two old Monogram F-5E/F-20 centerline tanks into F-14 ones.
