PM 1/72 TA-154 Moskito

November 10, 2012 · in Aviation · · 5 · 2.4K

Hi All,

Here is my PM Models TA-154, a kit that I really enjoyed building, probably as I was prepeared for being a bit of work. It definitley needs lots of test fitting, sand paper, plastic card and the occaisional filler.

I bulked up the engine nacelles by wrapping 10 thou plastic around them, and replaced the engine intakes with a couple of scratch-built ones. Also added the overhead window for the rear crewman, and extended the cockpit rearwards as the rear guy sat under/in the leading edge.

The canopy was surprisingly good, and polished up really well.

A spurious scheme and decals form the spares, with some home made prop blurs, and she was done, a very enjoyable build, or maybe I'm odd...

  1. Odd? Clearly a personal modeling style, I like it!

The prop blurs look quite effective, how did you get the prop "shadows", airbrushing? In which color?

    • Thanks Martin, I use a mask/stencil for airbrushing the blurs, and use highly thinner acrylic black. That way I can go lightly and build up the density to something I like. Cheers
      Jim

  2. Having attempted that kit many years ago I know what you were working with and I'd say you did a bang up job on that one.

  3. A very good build!
