Hasegawa 1/48 Nakajima Ki-27 ‘Nate’
This is Hasegawa’s release of an old Mania kit from the 70s. It is a very easy kit to construct and fits together well. It comes with decals and canopies for both the Ki-27a and Ki-27b. The Ki-27 served the Japanese Army Air Force from 1939 to the end of the war. One Japanese pilot even shot down a Hellcat with a trainer version of this (a Ki-79) with only one .30 caliber machine gun!

And another Ki.27 pilot nearly shot down Dave McCampbell; as McCampbell put in his after-action report “this operational student, if indeed he is, should have no trouble finishing the course successfully.”

A really nice pair. Is the red livery a decal? Must have been difficult to apply around the cowling. Good job. Weren’t these aircraft elegant?

I painted the cowling. The stripe was the decal. Thanks for the kind words and thanks to Kevin Thompson for both kits!

The reason I asked is that I always find it difficult to match painted red to a red decal. On your model, the two seem to melt together perfectly. Thanks for the info.

Wow, Charlie! You got that second Nate done REALLY fast! Both of them are of your typical superb build quality! They look great.
