P-47D Flown by Lt. L.W.Thompson, 510th FS / 405th FG, 9th AF
This aircraft was with the 510th FS/ 405th FG. The 405th transferred to RAF Christchurch, England in March of 1944. After D-Day the 405th went to France and operated out of there until Wars end. The 405th had many P-47's dressed out in very colorful markings. This is the Hasagawa kit which I think is very good. The decals are from Eagle Strike.
another fine piece of work
Good looking Jug Frank. Very subtle on the weathering.
Frank, hats off to you, this is great. Beautifully built and photographed, and some interesting history to go with it.
Good looking Jug, Frank. I really like your work.
Great job, Frank. I think you've really captured the essence of the P-47 with this one. It just looks right from any angle.
Nice job,I like the handling of the OD,looks great.
Very clean build. Do you airbrush the "weathering" on the wings or freehand with a brush? Great job!
Mike,
I use an airbrush very quickly over the surface in the direction of travel of the a/c. I use a lighter but similar color to what ever the element is. Dust, etc.
Good looking P-47
Great job as usual Frank!
Nice Thunderbolt, Frank, and a great choice of markings!
The black ID stripes are interesting, never seen those before. They're always white.
Fine looking Jug Frank as usual.
Very nice.
Nicely done!
