1/48 Hasegawa Grumman Hellcat Mk II

November 16, 2014 · in Aviation · · 14 · 3.4K

This is Grumman finished several years ago with the markings of FAA 808th squadron from HMS “Khedive” during May 1945.

Inaccurate cowling replaced with Obscureco F6F3 / 5 corrected cowling.

Cockpit modified by Eduard instrument panel and Ultracast resin seat.

The painting was done with Tamiya and Gunze Sangyo acrylics.

Decals were from Aeromaster #48399

The last modification was Squadron vacuform canopy.

Happy modelling & Carpe Diem

  1. A most impressive and well photographed build, Tolga...as are your usual fine examples. Well done indeed.

  2. Terrific Hellcat Tolga, great weathering as usual, and nice photos as well. I am impressed that you can remember what all was done to an old build. I for one, have a hard time remembering anything about a model once it has spent some time on the shelf.

  3. Another excellent contribution Tony.
    Great paint work.

  4. Very nice indeed Tolga. I like the weathering on this one. I wonder how effective this camouflage was over the ocean. Well done!

  5. A very well built and finished Hellcat Tolga.

  6. Ho-hum, another Tolga Ulgar masterpiece built to the same standard of excellence. 🙂

  7. Tolga, Wonderful model. I wish I had your painting skills. Really cool.

  9. What else is there to say, Tolga, I always enjoy looking at your postings.

  10. Excellent work. A distinctive finish.

  11. No idea how one could further improve modelling above Tolga level.
In this case I particularly love the satin finish and the decent weathering.
    And the FAA colour scheme!
