1/48 Hasegawa SH-3H
This was the first model I purchased after a 20 year hiatus. I started building it about 12 years ago and detailed the inside, but it turns out you can't see it through those tiny windows. I shelved it again and it sat in my storage room for years. I finally finished it days before last year's competition. Luckily, I had picked up some new techniques and incorporated them into this model. I wasn't very happy with it for several reasons known only to me, but to my utmost surprise it won best rotary wing aircraft last year. I was shocked to say the least.
What'd ya use to 'tint' the upper crew windows...?
That was just diluted Tamiya transparent green paint. Many thin coats followed by a light buffing with plastic polish.
Lovely build George. Congrats on the win as well
Wouldn't be too surprised of the win - looks pretty darn good to me!
I know the feeling when you spend ages painting and detailing something, then realise you can't see it! Not that I can paint or detail to your standards mind!
Cool chopper by the way! I take a similar one to work.
Hello George,
Always good to see the best helicopter ever in scale.
Excellent job on the finish of the model.
