Gearing up…..
The COD saga moves on. Boba Fett is excited about the new Star Wars movie, but is "standing" firm on his COD build! This installment is landing gear. Kinetics is adequate, but not quite right. You can see from the pictures I took on my last deployment, C-2 gear is quite complex. Partially due to the fact that the gear rotates so the wheel is sideways to the fuselage as it goes up into the wells. The swivel joints ( the bar looking things sticking out the back of the gear are a complex (and problematic to us maintainers) assembly. I used 1/350 ships railing to simulate them, they are 1 bar short, but hey better than the molded solid ones that Kinetic had! The hydraulics and wiring also include the "cat extend" plumbing. As the C-2 is getting ready to launch, she raises up on her main gear so the belly does not scrape going off the pointy end! I also bought Eduard Brassin A-6 wheels, they are externally the same as C-2 and E-2 wheel assemblies. I also added various uplock rollers, twist links and tie down points.Next up the nose gear!
Was it a coincidence that you took "walk-around" close-up photos back then OR...were you modeling back then OR...had you planned on modeling the aircraft someday or what? Nice job on that gear assembly, by the way.
Oh I have been a model builder for 50 years now. I don't think Kinetic had released their kit yet, but I think it was in "rumor" status 🙂
Nothing listed for 2016.
2016? Is it not still in current release? The deployment pictures are from 2009.
