Group Build – Water Wings
Ok here's the latest group build. This one will be dedicated to aircraft that were designed for or modified to fly from water. Here are a few ground rules:
-
New build
-
Can be any available plastic, resin or vacuform kit. Any era, any scale. If you'd like to scratchbuild one, go for it!
-
No what ifs please. Aircraft can be military or civilian in the following categories: flying boats (Sunderland, PBY). seaplanes (He-115 etc.), naval type floatplanes (Kingfisher, Rufe), land planes modified with floats (Wildcatfish, Cessna 185), racers (Supermarine S6), and helicopters.
-
Build will start September 1, 2016 and will conclude March 1 2017. You can start posting finished builds the last week of February, 2017. I hope that's enough time for everyone to get a build in around all the upcoming holidays.
If you have any suggestions or additions, please let me know. I'll post this in the Group site as well. Be sure to subscribe so we can all follow your progress:

Looking forward to seeing what crops up! There are a lot of interesting and unusual subjects to be found...
Works for me…….
Sounds good.
Like the idea, this might re-spark my modelling mojo.
Jamie,
I have a couple of restorations I was planning to post soon but they are not kits. I will submit them anyway as I just wanted to post them. If they fall into the category fine, if not, that is fine also.

If anyone's interested, Ebay has an old Otaki Dornier DO-X Flying Boat up for auction. Looks like 1/72. With its parasol wing studded with six engines it might make a change from the Airfix Short Sunderland, or similar.
PS meant to add Kittyhawk has just released a 1/32 Vought Kingfisher Scout which looks very nice.
