October Imodeler “Random Award”
I want to take this time and thank the staff of Imodeler.
I was chosen as the lucky winner for the month of October for the random award. I had by chance joined Imodeler earlier that month. Since then I have made some new friends and have received a very warm welcome. I appreciate the opportunity to post photos of my completed builds and write articles about them on this website.
I received the model a few days ago. I would have posted a few photos sooner, but my wife has been ill and I didn’t have anyone to take my picture holding the award. Thankfully the misses is feeling much better now. She took the photo a few minutes ago. I’m posting them now to carry on the tradition as others have in the past.
The award for this month was the 1/48 Airfix Boulton Paul Defiant. It is a WONDERFUL kit. Once this kit hit the market I knew that somehow I just had to get one. I was fortunate enough to win one instead ! My birthday is right around the corner so it was perfect timing… Thanks Martin !
I plan on building this as soon as I get a few other projects on my work bench finished first. I will start a build thread and post the progress as I go along.
Thank you again !

Congrats, Louis…nice choice! Hope you and yours are well. All the times I’ve been to NSB, never saw one of those shirts (now I gotta get one).

Thanks Craig !!! The shirts are upstairs in the office. Mine has a F4U-5NL on the back side of the shirt. They offer them in various colors and with different planes on the back. One of these days I’ll get one with the F6F Hellcat on the back. Each one of their shirts has artwork related to a different restoration that they have completed.

A nice kit Louis, should build well.

I’m really looking forward to building this one. Now I’m glad I never pursued the Classic Airframes version, (but those build into nice models too from what I’ve seen on the internet).

Expecting great things from you with this, Louis!

Thanks Rob. I hope that I don’t somehow manage to mess it up too bad……… I’ll keep you all posted with the progress like I have with my Pro Modeler SB2C-4 build thread.

Glad to see it has arrived safely – great photo, and from what I’ve heard a lovely kit of an exciting aircraft. I also must say I really like the new Airfix box art!

Thanks again Martin.
You all have really made my upcoming birthday special. I really like the artwork too. It reminds me of how things were on model box tops as a kid. It was a much simpler time.
Back then the art was what sold me on a kit. My first model was the Revell 1/32 P-40 “Flying Tigers”. Just the picture alone with the shark toothed plane ripping through a flight of enemy planes was what sold me……..It was just SO cool…….
Thanks a million my friend.
