TF-9J Cougar VA-43 NAS Oceana VA. 1965-67,Year of the,Cat,group build
This year of the cat build is Swords 1/72 TF-9J Twogar. A bit of a challenge to build[for me] no locating pins, kind of soft plastic, ill fitting in some places, the kit decals tended to curl when you go to place them. I used krylon flat white and testors gloss white to finish. For the markings I used a combo of kit, spares and home made decals to come up with the VA-43 scheme. At the time period of this build, their mission was instrument training for fleet replacement pilots, the squadron's role later changed to that of adversary, flying Skyhawk's, F-5's T-38's, F-21's and even Buckeyes. All in all I think it looks like a Cougar.
Turned out pretty nice IMO...I like it.
Good looking Twogar!
Very nice Robert. I've always liked the looks of this one
At least you didn't have to try and bludgeon the K(Sh)ittyhawk POS into a model.
A triumph of skill and talent over material.
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Tell you this Robert ... considering the what I consider too be small set backs ... this model turned out pretty good. Besides it being a clean and sharp build, it is a very welcomed and a nice opportunity to see a two crew version of the Cougar.
Nice looking cat Robert
Looks great! The elbow grease paid off, and nice to see something rarely built.
Congrats on the completion of your Cat. She turned out great.
Nice work Robert.
Thank you all.
Very neat work, Robert. I always find these Navy colour schemes very attractive.
Very nice finish Robert. All the extra work you put in shows. Well done sir.
Looks good Robert, came out well.
