Bf.109 G-4: building an overtree edition
Hello guys,
This is my first post here, so please be gentle.
This is Eduard 1/48 latest 109 on their lineage, the G-4 model.
Bought the overtree edition last month and also the PE fret. De als came from Kagero book and old Aeromaster sheet (crosses)
The inspiration came from a photo of the plane, crashed after combat, where no details concerning the cowl colours exist. To completed I used an excellent painted image made by C.Sundin. I don’t believe this a/c had a yellow fuselage band.
Thanks you
Nicely done Pedro. It looks real good.
Thanks Gary
Looks pretty good from here, Pedro...and welcome to the site. We'll be watching for more of your work as well.
Hope so Craig, but must warn you I am a slow builder so only a few post each year. Thanks!
109 ‘G’ always an attractive subject. Nice build, Pedro.
Thank you Rob. I know the mr. S shmitt is perhaps the most worn out plane in any scale, but I just can’t seem to get tired of building it...so many schemes and stories. Very few planes have this aura, even being a weapon from an evil regime
Very nice build Pedro, can not believe this is your first post here : ) ! One little hint: try to dilute your paint a little bit more to make the camouflage a little bit finer. Otherwise a very nice work.
Thank you Andreas. I’ve just recently found iModeller and this was my first complete build in this period. Also thanks for the hint, always good to hear feedback. I suppose some photos are a bit grainy because I had to edit them, but it was the 04 yellow from AK that proved difficult to get a proper dilution balance, which might get the painting a bit thicker there.
Excellent painting and build Pedro. Like the photography and the back round. Is that natural light?
Thank you Stephen. It is natural light alright. Took the photos around 11 a.m. in what seemed a glorious summer day, albeit it’s autumn ?
Beautifully done, Pedro! Welcome to the site!
Thank you Jeffry, glad to be here
You've chosen a classic for your first posting here, welcome to iModeler, Pedro, looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank you George, will post new builds surely?
Well done Pedro, excellent paint work, a really nice 109, and welcome to imodeler, a great bunch of guys here who simply like this hobby, and are happy to share idea's. Looks like you'll fit right in with us !
Couldn’t agree more Terry! Thank you
Beautiful work, Pedro. Really interesting paint scheme. So much scope for unique 109s, and this one really fits the bill! Welcome! Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you Paul, and yes agree that there is always some unique 109’s to be built. Appreciate the feedback
Very nice, and welcome aboard!
Thank you Greg, and am glad to be aboard!
Hello Pedro
You did an amazing job on this Gustav. Never try overture, but I have a lot of decals and not so much Gustav. Is it very interesting to order on the Eduard Site ?
Hi Emmanuel, if you have a good decal stash available then the overtree editions are excellent choices for a budget model.
Since I have enough decals to build over a dozen G versions I tend to browse Eduard webstore looking for these editions and specific additional discounts (usually they do 15% discount promotions, so keep a look out for these). I just add the PE fret to the shopping basket and I keep the price tag au pair with weekend editions or cheaper.
Hope this helps ?
Well done Pedro
Thank you George!
Great looking camouflage Pedro. Nicely weathered too.
Here’s my very technical appraisal @holzhamer… Wow that is f’ing amazing. Love it. Great work 👍🏻😎👍🏻
