A Fun Fantasy Kit!
Last year I started quite a few kits but for various reasons (none good really) I only finished one. So one of my goals for this year is to either finish last year's previously started kits or “send them on their way.”
Second on my list (the Wirraway I recently posted being first) is this Maschinen Krieger project I started last summer. According to Hasegawa it's a “Moon/Space Type Humanoid Unmanned Interceptor ‘Vega/Altair'” from the “Strahl Defence Force.” But to me it was a blank canvas on which I could do whatever I wanted without worrying about historical accuracy.
In the box the kit looked like a lot of work, but in reality it was pretty straightforward. While not a kit for beginners, a modeler who has completed a few kits and who is willing to follow directions should find no problems.
I debated a number of different paint schemes. Hasegawa suggests four with a plethora of decals to go along with them. Inspired by their red/white idea I decided to go with a blue/yellow scheme that was more appealing to my red/green color deficient eyes.
Wanting a very weathered robot I also decided to try my hand at using the hairspray technique. I'm very happy with how that turned out!
Anyway, this kit was so much fun I ordered another Maschinen Krieger kit. Hopefully, it won't take until next year to get it done!
That's really awesome Scott. The chipping and metallic undercoating look extremely realistic and in just the right amount. Great work. Can't wait to see the next one!
It's interesting. I have written a few s-f movies, but s-f models don't usually "ring my bell." But this one does. Loud. Very nice work.
A great example of a perfect weathering.
Amazing work!
Not only different but well done Scott.
very nice, your scheme is like "submarine research and exploration"
Great job and different!
This is my favorite one that u showed in class ?
