Not so AAARGH!

June 27, 2021 · in Aviation · 18 · 1.7K

After my failure on https://imodeler.com/2021/06/aaaaargh/ and a wigging from Tom Cleaver who told me in so many words as to not be such a Girls Blouse 🙂 I bought another one and this time its ok!

I had to do Warburton's aircraft so had to scratch decals together so they're not quite right (the "2" is not elaborate enough font and the AMAZING winged devil motif..anyway.) The Warburton's War kit is out of production. E Bay samples are expensive.

I cheated also on the engines. I grabbed a pair of 1/48 radials from my stash and made them fit. Glueing all those resin cylinders seemed a lot of work for something which can barely be seen. Not nearly scruffy enough of course.

  2. Hey, @ross4, I knew a guy with your demonstrated talent and skill could do this thing justice! In fact, you have done it so well that now you're inspiring me to track one down.

    I like this a lot!

  6. Another one of the unsung Heroes of WW2 . Well represented and an excellent piece of work Ross.

  7. Congratulations for taming the beast. Very nice result.

  8. Special Hobby kits are a good test of patience

I’m working on a 1/48 CAC wirraway now.

Rare kit but an important plane in any collection of SW Pac WW2 A/C

Tom Cleaver is a great writer as well as an awesome modeler.

I own all of his books and am currently reading “Tidal Wave”

  9. @ross4, well done Ross, this one looks great. Encouragement from the iModeler community has paid off, you must be very pleased. Definitely liked.

  12. There are those models . . . "Come Hell or High Water you can pull this finished model from my cold gray hand long after my last breath." It's done. Fin.

    Two thumbs up.

  13. I just joined this group and have to agree, it's a job well done. It adds yet another finished kit to the shelf/collection.

Also, I'd not seen this plane before. Had to go look it up and read the history.

    Overall, nice job.

  14. Great job. I did the same one years ago. The challenge after was my Fiat Br20 which when finally finished, became a favourite. ?
