2nd Build of 'The MiG' (F-5E), Italeri 1/72
Well...the Cowboys just lost in overtime on Thanksgiving, so I thought I'd make a post to cheer me up a bit.
Not exactly 100% completed as the pilot has yet to be assigned - review pending.
I liked the first 'Top Gun MiG' from June enough to make a second build - this time I'm keeping it on my shelf.
This Italeri Kit No.136 was a much nicer build with a nicely detailed cockpit and a great Aggressor decal sheet.
With nicely raised panel lines, the kit was easy enough to build.
One issue was that the plastic was a bit to brittle and some plastic did chip off in some spots when cutting from the tree and I ended up with one broken wingtip rail.
Sprayed with matt black enamel from a rattle can, pledge used for the insignia, then coated with Micro Satin.
Glad I kept an extra copy of the base sticker for this build.
I think it really looks deadly in that scheme, great job! I love that stand. Here's my Hobbyboss build of the mysterious Mig.

Thanks Robert (@roofrat),
Nice work on that HobbyBoss kit, I think it's probably the best kit of the F-5E.
Very nice F5, George @georgeswork
Usually a friendly looking plane but in pure black it lost its friendliness entirely.
Great work on this one.
Thanks John (@johnb)
Next F-5E will be of another less friendly 'aggressor' type.
Another beautiful job, George, this time in the "mysterious Mig" form.
Looks extremely cool!
Thanks Spiros (@fiveten),
To make it look meaner, I am keeping my eyes open for any Exocet missiles in any of my kits so I can add on along with adding the pilot. They are mentioned in the Top Gun Movie but you never see they .
Great model! Did you do this nice stand for model by yourself?
Thank You Lis (@lis),
The stand is a hockey puck with a wire clothes hanger bent to shape with decal image from the web then printed from Power Point onto a sticky label - simple yet effective.
Nice looking F-5, it does look pretty sleek in black. It also looks great on how you have it displayed!
Thanks Bob (@v1pro),
I agree that it looks sleek in black and one on the easiest paint job too!
Epic build, just like the movie!
Thanks Michel (@michel-verschuere).
A friend mentioned he really liked Mavericks Tomcat - but my friend will need to wait a bit.
