Skybow 1:35 General Patton's Command Car

July 2, 2022 · in Armor · · 6 · 1.2K

Wanting a break from tanks and planes, I pulled this from deep in my stash. As I've said before, I have a love/hate relationship with soft skin military vehicle kits. Love the interesting subjects. Hate the fiddly parts. Happily, this one was a unique subject and a nice build with only a couple of issues. Marrying up the transmission and drive train to the frame was a little tricky. There were also some fit issues with the hood pieces and rear body panel. Other than that, it was an enjoyable project. It has some prominent features that make this vehicle command attention, like those colorful flags and the rank placards, the horn on the fender, the 50 cal. on the running board, and the siren on the bumper. Not your typical WW2 combat vehicle. Luckily, it also got some positive attention at a recent IPMS contest.
