1/72 Octopus I.M.A.M. Ro.43

November 16, 2022 · in Aviation · · 22 · 1K

This kit was a challenge like I'd never had before, a short run kit with vague instructions, no alignment pins and vac form canopies, but its such a cool plane and I had to do it.

So off I went, and what fun I had, yes, yes, I'm a s****r for punishment.

Built it up with a lot of frustration and a lot of patience and in the end a kit, at least I am incredible proud of. I totally messed up the canopy because the markings on the plastic were very unclear, but other than that finished it off and am very happy with the end result.

This is not the end though, going to attempt an Italian carrier ship catapult launch ramp as my first scratch building project, so this beauty will have a place to sit on.

I hope you enjoy.

  7. A victory of talent and persistence over kit to get a great model.

  8. Beautifully done!

  9. Octopus were part of the Pavla set up and they had strange ideas about model engineering. You've managed an excellent result from one of their efforts.

    • Yes, I think Pavla took them over, they certainly had their own ideas, and I never want to see vac form canopies again haha. Appreciate the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  10. Well done, Anthony (@anthonyricco). I can't imagine the frustrations with this kit. A short run kit with a vac canopy are bad enough, but also a biplane. You are a better man than I am to complete a model like this that came out so well. Looking forward to the catapult.

  11. Thanks George. I'm sure you would have done even better than this. Was fun in the end. Will keep you updated with the catapult.

  12. Anthony, great job on your build. A tough kit made into a beauty!
