1/24th Revell Shelby Mustang
What to do when a model kit isnt that great? make it look worse.
the 'crash diorama' is always a plan b for me, in case i mess a kit up, but in this instance it was well thought out and planned before i even touched the kit, as it was a commision. I built it live on stream over a few months, as there was no real time limit to get it done, as some of you may have seen.
The weathering is done with AK weathering pencils (urgh) oils, enamel based washes, as well as pigments. The diorama was made from Balsa wood and VMS universal terrain brown, flocked with citadel glade grass, grass clumps a from army painter, and a few other bits i cant remember (the bushes and the leaves etc).
The fence was made from 1cmx1cm wooden rods, and the metal fence panels were from sunnimix.
The client was very happy with it, but im a bit meh about it, as im not sure red was the best colour to weather, as it doesnt show veryt well, but, it wasnt up to me, so i guess i can be fairly satisfied with the outcome.
This is an amazing result, Tam! Weathering is very realistic!
Thanks mate. Im not so sure myself, but its always good to have others opinions
Great job, that corrugated sheet metal looks very realistic and the car with the tarp and leaves, very nice!
thank you. im not too happy with the wriggly tin, but the leaves and the grass i love!
Nicely done, I think the tin very convincing.
Thank you
@fow_models - nice job, this is a lot of fun. We can always find fault in our own work. If the client is happy and they paid you... it's all good.
I think its good to find fault in our own work, its helpful in improving next time
I absolutely agree, it's important to look for ways we can improve. Just based on your comments, you seem to be too hard on yourself. Your work is obviously quite good. I think it's also important to celebrate the successful parts.
A very realistic looking diorama indeed, Tam @fow_models
I fully understand your cient was happy with the outcome.
That looks so cool Tam !
Your talents are evident . The wreck scape is hypnotically good. Abandoned artefacts were part of the landscape and in some places still is where a bit of freedom matches tolerance of peoples dreams, realised or not.
Excellent work.
Thanks Bernard. My next car will be Axel Foley's Chevvy Nova from 'Beverly hills cop' 😀
Anyone who let a classic car like this get into such a condition should have their driving license shredded.
ha! Totally agree, the Shelby Mustang is a beautiful car 🙂
