1/8 Aurora "Red Knight of Vienna"

April 5, 2023 · in Figures · · 18 · 0.8K

This model of Medieval jousting armor is 's 1963 reissue of their 1958 kit. The red color is the kit's metallic red plastic. The blue-green is Army Painter's "Wizards Orb." The gold is a 50/50 mix of Testors' Metallic Gold and Metallic Copper. The bare metal is Model Master "Steel." The clear gloss finish is three hand-brushed coats of Pledge acrylic floor finish. This is the fourth Aurora knight I've completed (see my archive page). One more to go!

  1. Beautiful work!

  2. Love the colours on this, Tom.

  3. This brings me back to when I was a kid - my father built all the Aurora knight models in the early 1960s.

  4. Really nice nob, Tom!

  5. Excellent achievement, Tom @tomhering
    A beautiful collection already.

  6. Looks great, Tom (@tomhering). Who knew hand-brushed Pledge would come out so nice? I remember building all of these when I was a kid, and they are now being released again. I have picked up a couple from Atlantis, along with some figure kits I had never seen before, like the Western Sheriff.

    • Thanks George! Yes, it's great that Atlantis, along with Round 2 (AMT, MPC, Hawk, Lindberg, Polar Lights) have been reissuing a lot of kits from our childhood.

  7. Yep, nostalgia and memory lane. Love the skirt. I've got one or two of this series on the shelves, but no hope of making them look this good. Excellent work, Tom, and congratulations for getting so much beauty out of this classic kit!

  8. Very cool! I see you have a couple of Hawk "Wierd-ohs" kits as well. Love those too. I did Digger a while back
