Piper Aircraft Museum
Hi All.
Finally made a trip to Lock-Haven, Pennsylvania to visit the Piper Aircraft museum and I'd like to share some pics.
The museum is located at the old Piper facilities where the aircraft were manufactured from 1930's - 1980's. If you are ever in central Pennsylvania take about an hour and visit this museum showcasing one of USA's general aviation's iconic names.

PA-12 Super Cruiser
PT-1 Primary Trainer
L-4 Grasshopper
Thanks for sharing, Gary. That is a surprisingly nice showing for a manufacturer's museum.
Especially when they pulled out of town 40-ish years ago.
Here's a photo from February 2019 of my son making some coordinated turns in my friend's beautiful 1964 Comanche 250.

Good for him...hope he's still aviating!
Nice looking museum, Gary. No drip pans under those wings! That grasshopper looks particularly terrific. Another museum to add to my list. (Pensacola is no. 1)
My list is long too and ever growing, Eric.
The USN aviation museum in Pensacola is amazing and one I want to get back to. If you go, make time to visit the USS Alabama facility in Mobile, not that far from Pensacola.
Thanks Gary, some stunning planes in there!

Very nice trip down the memory lane @gwskat…damn we be getting older
Ain't We...🤣
Looks like a good place to visit.
Yes it is. It's small but well done.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I remember going to Lock Haven in the mid 1970's, but the Piper buildings were closed. I don't know if it was because they had recently permanently shut down , or if we were there on the weekend, and no one was at the factory. I was all excited to see the Piper aircraft company, because I had just built a Comet balsa wood flying model... of a Piper Cub. But it never happened.
These are some really nice looking planes, and great pictures. I never knew they had built a PT-1 trainer for the US Army. There's a local fellow who owns a really nice Vagabond... and it's for sale ! However I have not yet hit the lottery, so a real airplane is off the table for now.
I'll definitely click on a few of the "like" buttons before I go... Thanks again !
Hey Louis. I was not aware of the PT-1 as well. Hmmmm...maybe a future modeling project. Like I don't have enough of those...LOL
Thanks for posting these pics, Gary! All looking wonderful!

An impressive museum, Gary @gwskat
I can imagine you had a great time overthere.
Thanks for sharing.
For me it's one of those "in your backyard" things to do that I finally did. Lockhaven is about one half hour from where I live. An upcoming project made me get in the car and head over. Glad I did.
Nicely presented Gary, thanks for posting.

Thanks for sharing these great photos, gary (@gwskat). Sometimes it is nice to see well-preserved planes that aren't all military.
I agree, George, that is one reason why I uploaded the pics, along with being a household aviation name...especially the J-3 Cub.
There are little nuggets of aviation history like the Piper Museum all over the country. One just needs to seek them out, so thanks for sharing Gary, and nice pics.
Thanks, Tom. Totally agree.
