I give to you my attempt at Eduard's WE Edition F.2B. I ended up getting two bacause I made a pigs ear of mounting the top wing and ended up with no lower or upper cabane struts! Having a strutted bottom wing sure adds to the hazards. Usually I fix the bottom wing and then paint biplanes along with driling holes to draw rigging wires through. This bottom wing attatchment isn't strong enough to mess about with, so I would recommend tackling the wing all in a oner!

I used a combination of 0.165mm fishing line and 02mm Nickel Silver Rod. Fishing line is so much easier than so-called Easy Line. It has enough stiffness to get one end in place for ca.It stretches just enough to give an impresion of tightness. Easy Line just droops and flaps all over. Nickel rod is good for shorter runs although It's all over scale.Of course it's a game of whackamole and CA hell πŸ™‚

The copper ring of the radiator is my partner's stickyback 0.001 Copper Foil used for stained glass. She says it will fade.

I think this was one of the most challenging, difficult and rewarding builds I've ever done. The rigging was endless! I didn't do double lines on the wing rigging. I have seen pics with both double and single. Even the photo's don't look too bad.

If anyone wants the remaining kit pm me and I'll post it. Al that's missing are the lower and upper centre wing struts. If you're UK based you can have it for the cost of posting!

  1. Another beautiful model from you.
Great looking model, very realistic. Rigging is perfectly performed
    Regards, Djordje

  2. Excellent result as always, Ross!

  3. Incredible work, Ross @ross4! 🀩 The rigging alone is worthy of a toast or two! 🍻 Very well done, sir! πŸ‘

  4. A wonderful result, Ross @ross4
I agree that the rigging looks really good, not an easy task to apply so much of it in this scale.

  5. Nice work, thumbs up. I am also waiting to build this machine. I like it very much, congratulations.

  6. Wing troubles and all, you'd never guess it! Awesome job, it looks great. I'm constantly playing with different materials for rigging and each have there good and frustrating points. I think my favorite is still "invisible" mending thread in smoke color. It's essentially really fine fishing line. That's what I used to do the rigging on my 32nd scale Albatros Dlll. a nd the same for the areal wire on my 72nd scale P-40B.

    • I think that's the key. Try it and see. I do wonder if the manufacturers could at least give an indication of where rigging should be fixed to. Quite often the rigging diagrams are perfunctory. Even this kit showed the inboard wires returning to the lower cabane struts which is clearly wrong.

      • Yes, definitely. It is tuff to figure out sometimes. Depending on the subject, the Vintage Aviator out of New Zealand (and Wingnut Wings) have good reference photos. I think it's just a matter of research, and when all else fails, an educated guess will work just fine!πŸ˜‰

  7. Nice work on this and a great result.

  8. Well done - your rigging looks great!

  9. That's very nice work on the rigging. I've done that particular type with the Roden kit and that is a particularly difficult rigging challenge especially if you do go down the double flying wire route. You really have made a good job there.

  10. Good save on the rigging, Ross, and you never know when the spare parts might come in useful.

  11. I had similar problems with EaZ Line when I was rigging my Sopwith Tripe a couple of years back. I'll keep fishing line in mind the next time I rig a kit.

Nice recovery to a good looking model.

  12. Thanks folks! Have a great New Year!

  13. That's simply gorgeous Ross. Nice one πŸ‘

  14. Very nice! That is a LOT of rigging - why I usually stick to WWII and later... πŸ˜‰

  15. Looks great with all that rigging. Nicely finished. @ross4

  16. πŸ™‚ ... Greetings ... πŸ™‚ :
