Tamiya 1/35 Carro Armato M13/40
Here's my third tank build. The kit overall went together well. The only complaint I have about the kit is I still haven't figured out how to install linked tracks correctly because they seem to be about 1-2mm too short to connect them when I install the tracks at the end. Seems like Tamiya should have included a few extra track links for this very purpose. A minor issue is the kit does not provide instructions or a method for securing the jerry cans to the tank. I found some reference photos that showed them tied with a rope to the pioneer tool kit frame on the back of the engine cover so that's what I did.
I did a lot of experimenting with hairspray chipping on this model and also painting the kit in various desert colors to determine the best two-tone colors. The colors suggested by Tamiya just didn't look right at all when I painted it the first time. The desert weathering was very hard to make it look right but I think I figured it out more or less. I'm happy with the weathering and end result overall.
You did absolutely well on this tank, Derek @mrocs2000
The desert colors and weathering are something you can really be proud of.
I was not aware of this little Italian tank.
Thanks John. Italy had two other paint schemes for this tank so that gives me the opportunity to build it again in the future.
Excellent result, Derek!
Thanks Spiros.
Came out looking great, Derek.
Thanks George.
