Tamiya 1/35 Carro Armato M13/40

March 7, 2024 · in Armor · · 7 · 236

Here's my third tank build. The kit overall went together well. The only complaint I have about the kit is I still haven't figured out how to install linked tracks correctly because they seem to be about 1-2mm too short to connect them when I install the tracks at the end. Seems like Tamiya should have included a few extra track links for this very purpose. A minor issue is the kit does not provide instructions or a method for securing the jerry cans to the tank. I found some reference photos that showed them tied with a rope to the pioneer tool kit frame on the back of the engine cover so that's what I did.

I did a lot of experimenting with hairspray chipping on this model and also painting the kit in various desert colors to determine the best two-tone colors. The colors suggested by Tamiya just didn't look right at all when I painted it the first time. The desert weathering was very hard to make it look right but I think I figured it out more or less. I'm happy with the weathering and end result overall.
