I've always been fascinated by military aircraft and go to every aviation museum and airshow whenever possible. I ran across some YouTube videos on scale model building and decided that this would be an interesting hobby to pick up so I started my model building adventure in December 2021. My interest is currently 1/48 scale WWII aircraft but I definitely want to build a series of Korean War aircraft in the near future. I live in Korea which limits the availability of some modeling supplies such as Alclad paints.
This project took the joy out of model building which isn't good for my 6th build. The ICM kit was subpar by every standard. The instructions didn't include the paint scheme or decal layout for the box art version which is what I built. [...]
This is my fifth model so I'm still learning quite a bit. This kit in particular is very simple and easy to build, all the parts fit together perfectly, and the decals seemed to be less thick than the ones from my Tamiya Wildcat. Due to [...]
This is the 4th model in my model-building career so my learning curve is still nearly vertical. I could only find one grainy photo of a plane from VF-22 (USS Independence) so this is my interpretation of the plane's paint scheme from [...]
This is the third model in my model-building career. This P-39 represents the 46th fighter squadron that was stationed at Kanton Atoll from the spring of 1943 through December 1943. The sand and light blue camouflage pattern was painted [...]
This Vindicator represents one of the USMC planes stationed at Midway Island that participated in the Battle of Midway. The white "stripes" are medical tape the crews used to patch the canvas exterior and the grey lines around [...]
This is my very first model kit (1/48 scale Academy P-40) so my learning curve is vertical at the moment and some things I couldn't figure out at all. I use mostly Mr. Color paints. Please provide suggestions/feedback on how to improve. [...]
