Ferret 1:35 Airfix
The Ferret is an armoured scout car that was produced from 1952–1971 that was used by the British Army, the RAF, and various Commonwealth countries. Ferrets were ultimately operated by over 36 countries and they were deployed in at least 25 conflicts and wars; including The Troubles. Decommissioned Ferrets are popular among vehicle collectors, some more well known than others.
As soon as I saw the Airfix new kit announcement for the Ferret, I knew I wanted it in my collection. Even though mine is buttoned up, the allows you to build it with all the hatches open, leaves open the possibility for some interior detailing. The kit includes some interior detail including seats, steering wheel and radios.
Overall, I liked building this kit, but its quality doesn't quite measure up to that of Airfix's current aircraft kits. It is molded in a green plastic that isn't as crisp as the familiar Airfix light blue/gray. The fit also isn't as good as recent aircraft kits I've done. However, its a good representation of a popular and long-lived military vehicle. I added antenna ariels, rope and a stowage canvas.
Beautiful work done on this Ferret, Dennis @dmeyers
Nice one. You almost have to have a figure next to it so one can see how small it is. Funny looking flag on the turret...missing a bit red lines, no?
Good observation Stellen. After another sharp eyed Modeller friend pointed this out I looked at some more reference photos. The only photos of Ferrets I found with a Union Jack on the turret were in West Berlin. And they lack the diagonal red stripes. Why, who knows. Maybe to make the vehicles less red.

That is a very good result, minimum weathering but still a lively finish. One of the best finished Ferrets I have seen.

I want one. Wonder if Leno will sell?
Very nicely built, Sir.
Excellent job, Dennis!
Love it! The dry brushing really brings out the details.
