1/69 V-2 Missile with Meillerwagen Transporter

I picked up a 1972 boxing of the classic Revell kit several years ago, and finally got around to building it.

The "box scale" kit, which at 1/69 is close enough to 1/72 to pass muster, contains a German V-2 Missile with detailed interior, the Meillerwagen transport vehicle, and a launch pad. I built it essentially out of the box, using Vallejo Dunkelgrun (German Panzer Grey) RAL 7021 for the transporter and pad. There are a couple of interesting splinter patterns for the missile, but I didn't want to put that much work into this old kit so I went with Vallejo RLM 74 Graugrun for the missile, which is accurate to the 1945 time period.

I considered skipping the internal parts of the model, but was glad I didn't, as the study on how to paint the interior led me to the discovery that the control compartment near the top of the missile was actually made of plywood, with the necessary equipment bolted and/or screwed down.

I'd like the blame the kit for the problems I had with it, but the real problem was me not reading the instructions, which would have told me not to glue certain parts. As a result, I had to break apart and partially rebuild the lifting pistons so while I can reposition the model from a horizontal to a vertical position, it's not as easy as it should be.

It's a poor build of a not very good kit, but it's another addition to the 1/72 WW II equipment shelf.
