Las Vegas Best of the West Model Show
I went to the Las Vegas show Saturday, and it was a pretty nice show. There were some amazing kits, and Fine Scale Modeler was there taking pictures too. They photographed a couple of mine, lets see if they show up somewhere in a magazine.
I saw some really amazing kits, but failed to take pictures of all that I looked at. The Best Aircraft was a scratch built Russian helicopter. It was built by the same gentleman that scratch built a 1/32 scale Skycrane helicopter a year before ICM came out with theirs. He won at every contest he entered with that, and I am sure will do the same with this one too. Funny thing is I didn't take a picture of it. Sorry, I will get a picture in a couple of weeks if he shows up at the San Diego show (if history is a predictor he will be there).
The fun thing about shows is seeing the creativity and talent of some of the amazing builders out there, as well as catching up with other modeling friends.
Obviously you had a wonderful time there, Walt!
Thanks for sharing!
Yes Spiros, @fiveten, it was fun and it was fun to me that I had just watched the movie "Jason and the Argonauts" on the TV and it was cool to see the diorama highlighting so many of the fun scenes from the movie in one super scene.
Looks like you had a good day out, Walt.
What a great day you had in Vegas, Walt @luftwaffe-birdman
Fine Scale Modeller taking pictures of your builds clearly indicates the high quality of them, you can definitely be proud of that.
Thanks for sharing.
Creative dios. The Black Panther dio looks great.
It really was incredible. According to the paperwork the building was scratch built. The figures though really tell the story and were well done.
Some fine work at the Vegas show, especially photo 1 of the "Alien" type dragon and Black Panther diorama, Walt @luftwaffe-birdman. Is that B-24 yours? Where are the photos of your entries? I guess I will have to wait until my issue of FSM shows up with a Vegas report.
Yes Eric, @eb801, the B-24 is mine, "The Blue Streak". I only took six kits, and spread them over a three catagories, one of which got split. The "Alien" was better than the photo shows, unfortunately he was asked to have it photographed by FSM, he filled out the paperwork but didn't take it up to have the pictures taken. I would agree with you about the Black Panther diorama, it was fantastic.
